BRAUNSCHWEIG 5639 Fürst August Wilhelm von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel (1662 -1731) - Partisane der Leibtrabanten, datiert 1718 Breite gegratete Stoßspitze, beidseitig vergoldete florale Ätzung über Fürstenhut und dem Welfenross. Symmetrische Reißhaken, an den Rändern reiche florale Ätzungen. Die eine Seite des Blattes mit dem großen, vergoldeten, fürstlichen Wappen und der Umschrift „August Wilhelm D G Dux Bruns: & Luneb:” sowie der Jahreszahl „1718”, die andere mit der bekrönten Chiffre „AW” über demMotto „Parta Tueri” und der wiederholten Jahreszahl „1718”. Kräftige, balustergegliederte Tülle mit zwei langen Schaftfedern, eine bezeichnet „N33”. Originaler Fransenaufputz in Blau und Gelb sowie originaler kannelierter Schaft mit eisernem Schuh. Länge 257 cm. Beeindruckende barocke Stangen- waffe. August Wilhelm von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel war Herzog zu Braunschweig und Lüneburg und ab 1714 Fürst von Braunschweig- Wolfenbüttel. Er war für seinen ausschweifenden und vor allem kost- spieligen Lebensstil bekannt. Die berühmte Liselotte von der Pfalz beschrieb August Wilhelm 1700 als „ein heßlich schätzgen”, welches „erschrecklich desbauchiert” (ausschweifend, hemmungslos) sei. Impressive polearm from the Baroque era. August Wilhelm of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel was Duke of Brunswick and Lüneburg and in 1714 became Prince of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel. He was known for his extravagant and, above all, expensive lifestyle.
