Das Gesicht des Reittieres des Gottes Vishnu mit langem Hakenschna­ bel, ausdrucksstarken Augen und demDritten Auge, dem Stirnchakra, und darüber drei To­ tenschädel. Höhe 46 cm. Neben dem Schneelöwen, dem Drachen und dem Tiger gehört der Garuda zu den vier Kraft- oder Symboltieren der vier Himmels­ richtungen. Auf tibetischen Gebetsfahnen be­ finden sie sich häufig jeweils in einer Ecke, ergänzt durch ein Windpferd in der Mitte. Along with the Snow Lion, the Dragon and the Tiger, the Garuda is one of the four digni- ties or symbolic animals of the four direc- tions.
