A pair of North Spanish, silver-mounted miquelet pistols, late 18th century Octagonal barrels turning to round after chis- elled acanthus ornaments, with cannon muzz­ les. Smooth bores in 16.5 mm calibre. Five gold-inlaid marks at the breeches, belowwhich the barrel maker’s mark of Juan Esteban Bustindui of Eibar. Gold-lined vent holes. Lightly engraved locks, the gold-lined mark of Joseph Mendizábal de Placencia on the lock plates. Beautifully carved walnut full stocks. The furniture made of delicate silver open- work with floral decoration and mountings for missing gemstones. Steel trigger guard with chased rocaille ornaments underlaid in gold, plus the gold-lined mark of Antonio Doiztúa de Oviedo. Wooden ramrods with bone tips. Length 41 cm each. A pair of exceptionally sumptuous, deluxe Spanish pistols, with three famous gunsmiths from different cities playing a part in their pro- duction.
