A German Baroque flintlock rifle from the armoury of the Princes zu Salm-Reifferscheidt, circa 1680/90 Octagonal barrel slightly indented in the middle with eight-groove rifled bore in 20.5 mm calibre. Dovetailed sights of brass and iron, the barrel base with fullers on top. At the breech two brass-lined marks with peli- can and “CH”. Flintlock with lightly domed plate, openwork side plate with cut tendril ornaments. Adjustable set trigger, sliding safety. Light- ly carved full stock, the front third of the forestock an old replacement. Patch box with carved sliding lid, smooth iron furniture. Replaced wood- en ramrod with flat iron tip. On the butt struck salmonmark with number “15”. Length 116 cm.
