| 295 Lieutenant General and Adjutant General of the Russian Tsar, Pontus Alexander Ludwig Count of Brevern-de la Gardie – a large Russian silver tray, dated 1854 Silver. Rectangular form, the lip finely engraved with the family coat of arms of Count Pontus Alexander Ludwig Count of Brevern-de la Gardie. On the reverse St. Petersburg hallmark for “84” zolotniki with the date “1854” and master mark “Kordes” for Alexander Kordes and French import mark. Dimensions 66 x 42.8 cm. Weight 4,440 g. Allegedly from the estate of Count Pontus Alexander Ludwig Count of Brevern-de la Gardie (1814-90). 1851 Commander of the Chevalier Guard Regiment, 1853 Major General, 1855 General à la suite of Tsar Nicholas I (1825-1855), and 1856 Adjutant General of the Tsar. After his appointment to Lieutenant General he became Commander of the 1st Guard Cavalry Division. In 1862 he became Chief of Staff of the independent Guard Corps, 1864 Chief of Staff of the Guard Troops and the units for the military district of St. Petersburg, 1865-69 Supreme Commander in the military district of Charkov and 1869 General à la suite of Tsar Alexander II. Before 1888 he was the Supreme Command- er of the military district of Moscow and member of the state council. Among his distinctions: Order of St. Anne 1st class, Order of the White Eagle, Order of Alexander Nevsky, Order of St. Vladimir 1st Class. 260990 II € 2.500 4352
