Detailedmodel of this machine gun with folding sights, wood grips on the handle and fixed height adjustment with spring-controlled fine adjustment. Pivot-mounted on a silvered tripod with indi- vidually adjustable legs. The tripod feet rest in slots in the blackened oak base, two silvered brass ammunition boxes with closable covers are mounted behind theMG. In front of theMG there is silvered plaque with a pin-affixed, partly enamelled silver badge of the “MGC” (Machine Gun Corps) with crossedMGs under an English crown, below an in-struck designa- tion “W.J.B. France 1914 - 1917”. Length of the Vickers 34 cm, base dimensions 32.3 x 20 cm. The VickersMGwas the standardmachine gun of the British army and was from1916 also used as the on-board MG for British and French fighter aircraft. The U.S. Army also used this model as the Colt Vickers M 1915. A high-quality, decorative piece of trench art work.
