Three late Roman fibulae, two belt buckles and a ring, silver, 4th - 5th century Three similar onion button fibulae, all without needles and without but- ton at the head end. The cross arms are only preserved in their remains or are missing completely. The decorative plates of the foot are all deco- rated with the sign of the cross. Lengths 3.7 cm. In addition a silver ring, whose soldered round plate carries a cross made of granulate beads, and two belt buckles. Silver. All objects except the fibulae intact. Length of the fibulae 3.7 cm, height of the belt buckles 2.9 and 3.6 cm, inner diameter of the ring 1.9 cm. P rovenance : From a private collection kept in southern Germany. Acquired in the 1970s to 1980s from art dealers and German private collections. 251582 II € 400 2123 Drei Bronzefragmente, mittelbyzantinisch und romanisch, 9. - 11. Jhdt. Bronzekopf eines Seraphs, ursprünglich zu einem liturgischen Gerät von überdurchschnittlicher Qualität gehörend. Der Kopf mit in paral- lelen Reihen angeordneten Locken. Hinten über dem Kopf gekreuzt ein Flügelpaar, das Gefieder fein ausgearbeitet und mit einemmandel- förmigen Ornament (Auge) in der Mitte. Vorder- und Rückseite glei- chermaßen sorgfältig gestaltet. Dunkelbraune Patina mit Spuren von Vergoldung. Höhe 4,3 cm. Dazu ein vergoldetes Ausgussfragment in Form eines Fischkopfes. Als Verschluss diente ein beweglicher, leicht S-förmig gebogener und eben- falls vergoldeter Zapfen. Länge 5,7 cm. Ferner ein konvex gebogener, teilweise durchbrochener figürlicher Beschlag aus Bronze. Dargestellt ist ein Fabelwesen mit zwei Köpfen. Grüne Patina mit Resten von Ver- goldung. Länge 4,1 cm. Three Middle Byzantine and Romanesque bronze fragments, 9th - 11th century Bronze head of a seraph, originally belonging to a liturgical instrument of above-average quality. Dark brown patina with traces of gilding. Height 4.3 cm. In addition a gilded spout fragment in the shape of a fish’s head. Length 5.7 cm. Further a convex curved, partly openwork figural bronze fitting. A mythical creature with two heads is depicted. Green patina with remains of gilding. Length 4.1 cm.
