| 187 A Hallstatt bronze cauldron, 8th century B.C. A bronze cauldron with conical belly, at the shoulder bent inwards. The rim is decorated with a band of four horizontal incised lines, above and below oblique incised lines which change direction at greater intervals. Directly below the rim decoration two “Kreuzhenkel”-attachments. Only one handle (of two) preserved. The handle with twisted ribbing and the ends worked in the shape of stylized bird heads. One of the at- tachments with two antique repair spots. Beautiful olive-green patina. Isolated, minimal cracks stabilised. Surface conservatively treated. Height without handle attachment 15 cm, with attachment 16.5 cm. Maximum diameter 29.5 cm. P rovenance : From a private collection in South Germany. Massiver offener Armreif mit D-förmigem Querschnitt. Beide Enden sind in markanter Weise in Form stilisierter Tierköpfe gestaltet. Außen mit exzellenter dunkelgrüner Patina, innen stellenweise leichte Korro- sionsspuren. Intakt. Durchmesser 6,8 cm. Provenienz: Aus rheinischer Privatsammlung, übernommen aus der Sammlung des Vaters, erworben in den 1960-1980er Jahren im deut- schen und belgischen Kunsthandel. An Iron Age bronze bracelet, Southeast Europe, 3rd - 2nd century B.C. Solid open bracelet with D-shaped cross-section. Both ends are strik- ingly styled in the form of stylized animal heads. Excellent dark green patina on the outside, slight traces of corrosion in places inside. Intact. Diameter 6.8 cm.
