| 19 geschmiedeten eisernen Beschlägen. Die Ver- schlussbügel der Wiegezapfen fehlen. Das hin- tere Ende einer Lafette und zwei Naben gut ergänzt, die Ergänzungen farblich abgesetzt. Rohrlänge je 59 cm, Gesamtlänge 110 cm. Provenienz: Schloss Wehrden. Das im Kreis Höxter (Nordrhein-Westfalen) gelegene Schloss wurde ab 1696 auf den Resten eines älteren Herrenhauses vom Fürstbischof von Paderborn, Hermann-Werner von Wolff-Met- ternich errichtet. Das Adelsgeschlecht von der Horst stammt aus dem ebenfalls in Westfalen gelegenen Fürstbistum Osnabrück. A pair of small German cannons from a noble family, dated 1707 Stepped bronze barrels with rich band struc- ture and reinforced muzzles. Smooth bores in 32 mm calibre. Lateral trunnions, at top two handles in the form of stylised dolphins. Plain touch holes, breeches with oval cascabel. Over the chambers a fine, raised combined coat of arms of “vonMetternich” and “von der Horst” with the date 1707, underneath a banner in- scribed “Metternich-Horst”. On original oak- wood carriage with finely wrought iron mounts. The closing levers of the trunnions missing. The back end of one carriage and two hubs well replaced, the replacements in a different colour. Length of either barrel 59 cm, overall length 110 cm. P rovenance : Wehrden Castle. The castle is located in the district of Höxter (North Rhine-Westfalia) and was built in 1696 on the remains of an older manor owned by the Prince-Bishop of Paderborn, Hermann-Werner vonWolff-Metternich.
