A czapka for reserve officers in the 3rd Guard Uhlan Regiment, dated 1906 Leather skull lacquered in black (isolated craquelures, rubbed, small pressure marks) with fittings of white and yellow metal. Screw-mounted guard eagle of silver-plated nickel silver with applied and partly enamelled guard star for officers (small chippings, the silver-plated star not properly fitting), applied gilt reserve cross. Domed, gilt brass chinscales with leather backing on geometrical rosettes, on the right the officer’s cockade of lacquered sheet iron. Field insignia of silver fringes and black velvet inserted on top, behind it inserted parade bush with socket of nickel silver and buffalo hair in black and white. Parade cover in yellow gold, lanyard of silver rounded cord with black interweaves and two tassels. Ribbed silk lining in salmon pink (small tears), ochre-coloured leather sweatband (stained), inside the skull purveyor’s label “Ed. Schultze Potsdam” with name “Merveldt”, size “57” and date “3.10.96”. Slightly damaged in places, traces of wear and age. A certain Count von Merveldt appears in the 1914 army list on page 736 as reserve lieutenant of the 3rd Guard Uhlan Regiment. 341516 II € 3.000 3712 3712 | 463
