Mounted via special clamping rail and flip-to-side mount ring a Zeiss Conquest DL 3-12 x 50, reticle 4. Visually and technically alright. When criminals and terrorists increasingly started to take hostages in the 1970s, West German law enforcement had to find new means to handle the situation, requiring more specific weapons and equipment. One solution was the WA 2000 sniper rifle („Walther Automat“), which was specifically designed to meet the needs of police marksmen. After years of preparation, its prototype was completed in 1982. The main criteria were precision, a high-performance cartridge and a semi-automatic rifle. Using bullpup technology (the firing action and magazine are located behind the trigger), it was possible to create a comparatively short rifle, while maintaining optimum barrel length. The short overall length was conducive to ease of handling and transportation. The .308 calibre (7.62 x 51) was suitable for ranges up to approx. 300 m, the .300 WinMag. calibre (7.62 x 66) for longer distances. Due to the high cost per piece, only 176 rifles were produced until around 1988: 20 trial weapons, 69 in .300 WinMag. calibre and 87 in .308 calibre. 15 such rifles were exported to the United States. The WA 2000 is sometimes described as the probably best sniper rifle made to date. The WA 2000 offered here is in near-mint original condition. It is a civilian version which, according to the consignor, was personally picked up at the Walther headquarters and was the penultimate rifle of this model that was produced. The aluminium frame is completely matt black anodized, steel parts blued. Complete with the specially reinforced aluminium transportation case supplied by the company. Dimensions 106 x 36 x 15 cm, with foam inserts, contents: spare magazine, bipod, operating instructions, report in DWJ from 9/1982 by G. Wirnsberger. Erlaubnispflichtig. 329344 I € 12.000 | 203
