A shako for officers of the Hanseatic troops, circa 1845 Stiff conical body, the exterior covered with black mohair felt, the leather top surrounded by a dark blue velvet trim (rubbed). The obverse bearing an embossed star plate of gilt non-ferrous metal held by two leather wedges. Surmounted by a hole for the (missing) cockade covered by black leather with the silver-plated unit number „1“. Multi-link chinscales with red backing on lion head bosses. Brown leather flap lining (partially detached from the edge) with (illegible) ink stamp, the underside of the top with red seal lacquer. The original owner‘s name „G. J. Werner“ scratched to the underside of the leather front peak. Partially slightly damaged, signs of wear and age. Height 17 cm. Well preserved, early military hat.
