| 149 Der Überlieferung nach handelt es sich um ein persönliches Geschenk von Kommandeuren an Großfürst Mikhail Nikolaevitch Romanov (1832 - 1909), der Chef der 2. Leibgarde-Artillerie-Brigade zu Pferd war. A distinguished Russian silver cartridge case as a gift of honour to Grand Duke Mikhail Nikolaevich Romanov from commanders of the 2nd Mounted Life Guards Artillery Brigade, dated 1885 Silver lid with appliquéd silver, partially enamelled star of the Order of St. Andrew with two crossed cannons. The Cyrillic inscription (tr.) “2ndMounted Life Guards Artillery Brigade” engraved on the top. The inside of the lid stamped with the St. Petersburg mark of fineness for “84” zolotniki , master’s mark “AK” for Karl Albrecht and engraved names of the last commanders of this brigade: “1881-1885 Prince V.N. Masalsky, V.M. Khitrovo, A.Ja. Tal , A.M. Khitrovo, Count E.E. Putiatin, A.M. Voronovich, Count M.A. Barantsev, V.G. Pavlovsky, A.A. Dmitriev”. The inner lid bearing a framed photograph (faded, behind glass) with mounted officers of the 2nd Life Guards Artillery Brigade. The interior gilt with the samemarks of fineness andmaster’s marks. Two mounting screws on the back. Dimensions 9.4 x 16.6 x 5 cm. Weight 635 g. Good condition. Extremely rare find.
