Unterlebensgroßer Marmortorso, bekleidet mit einem Chiton und einem über die Schulter gelegten Mantel. Der Chiton am Oberkörper gegürtet und mit feiner Fältelung nach unten fallend. Stellung im Kontrapost mit leicht s-förmig gebogenem Körper sowie rechtem Stand- und linkem Spielbein. Oberhalb der Knie abgebrochen. Arme und Kopf fehlend, wohl bewusst als Torso konzipiert. Ähnliche Frauenstatuen in Artemisgestalt sind vor allem aus römischer Zeit bekannt. Oberfläche gründlich gereinigt. Modern auf schwarzem Steinsockel mit massivem Stift montiert. Qualitativ hochwertige Bildhauerarbeit nach antikem Vorbild. Höhe ca. 83 cm (mit Sockel 100 cm), Breite ca. 52 cm, Tiefe ca. 30 cm. Provenienz: Aus der Sammlung Dr. H. Lanz, München. Erworben in den 1980er Jahren aus einer französischen Privatsammlung in Antibes. A Neoclassicistic marble torso modeled on an antique Artemis statue, circa 1800 - early 19th century Below-life-sized marble torso, dressed in a chiton and a cloak draped over one shoulder. The chiton is belted on the upper body and falls downwards with a fine fold. Position in contrapposto with the body slightly bent in an S-shape and the right standing leg and the left free leg. Broken off above the knees. Arms and head missing. Probably deliberately designed as a torso. Similar statues of women in the shape of Artemis are known primarily from Roman times. Surface thoroughly cleaned. Recently mounted on a black stone base with a solid pin. High-quality sculptural work based on ancient models.
