A visor cap in dark blue cloth (the top with a white cotton cover), black trim and gold-embroidered emblem with a flower and anchor symbol, the wearer's name "Awano" (a pioneer of Japanese naval aviation) embroidered in the violet silk lining, in a canvas case (the straps incomplete). Uniform jacket of dark blue woollen cloth with collar patches and sleeve stripes in the rank of lieutenant-commander, Japanese lettering embroidered in the black silk lining. Comes with trousers in the same cloth, with plastic buttons. Furthermore, a double-breasted navy greatcoat in dark-blue woollen cloth, the buttons with anchors in relief, and shoulder boards (one shoulder button missing). White cotton cap with two continuous black stripes, stitched with a woven flower and anchor symbol. The tunic in white cotton cloth with gilt anchor buttons and shoulder boards in the rank of commander, matching trousers. Moreover, a pair of black leather shoes and a clasp belt in black leather with a gilt brass closure and appliquéd anchor symbol. Also includes an officer's sword with a hand-forged blade and scabbard (length 96 cm), plus binoculars 7 x 50, made by "Yashima, Tokyo", in a grey canvas case.In varying states of preservation, some with Japanese lettering. The auction includes 905 lots and starts on Thursday, May 28, 2020 at 10 am (CET). Lot no. 5001 - 5905. The pre-sale viewing will take place from May 21 - 24, 2020 from 2 to 6 pm (CET). However, the number of participants for both auction and viewing is limited due to Covid-19 restrictions and requires an appointment. Bring your favourite breathing mask!
