Description

The skull forged in one piece with a pronounced medial ridge. A continuous row of perforations along the edge to attach the aventail. The sturdy nasal bar forged in one piece. The skull with several small corrosion perforations, a larger flaw at the crown, a minor imperfection at the edge above the left ear. Height 16.5 cm, weight 589 g. Rare helmet type dating from the era of the first crusade. Originals such as this are seldom available on the market. A nasal helmet with a similar, broad nasal bar can be found in the collection at the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna (WSA41).
