Description
The smooth Spanish barrel in 17 mm calibre, completely covered in fine stippling. Octagonal at the breech, turning to round after two chiselled girdles. Silver front sight. Two gold-inlaid marks at the breech. The flintlock elaborately chiselled with three-dimensional hunting scenes and mascarons with internal cock and frizzen spring. Double set trigger. Carved walnut full stock covered in floral tendrils with cheek piece and patch box. Beautiful fittings in fire-gilt bronze with figurative and floral engraving in high relief. The brass-tipped wooden ramrod of later date. A glued crack in the barrel at the thumb plate, the stock somewhat abraded. Length 126 cm.Condition: II - Questions about the lot?
