Cal. .455 CF, Nr. 8968, Matching numbers with assembly number 40. Double-barrelled, smooth, bright-bore drop barrels, length 160 mm. Brass crescent front sight, V-shaped rear sight. Various proof marks. Bird's head grip. Covered DAO firing mechanism. Extractor. Underlug lock on both sides, long locking lever on the left. Double-action Tranter trigger. The top of the barrel signed "Charles Lancaster, Patent, 151. New Bond St., London", repeated at the recoil plate, left barrel rib "455 C.F.". Original bluing slightly spotty at the barrels, thin, spotty, and patinated at the top of the grip and at the rear chequered gripstrap as well as at the trigger guard. Dark, flawless walnut grip panels. Lanyard ring. Very rare as double-barrelled version.
