Description
Cal. .380 RookRifle, SN. 24, matching numbers. Seven groove barrel, length 128 mm. Fluted six-shot cylinder with ejector star. Hammerless design, where a star-shaped ratchet wheel inside the frame to the rear of the cylinder causes the wheel to strike the firing pin when the trigger is pulled. A latch in the rear of the pistol’s frame locks the pivot mechanism. The barrel marked "Kynoch Gun Factory Aston", the top strap “Revolverul Dimancea”. On the upper left of the frame the electrically engraved inventory number Kynochno. 93/5789" (IMI-Collection - Imperial Metal Industry = Kynoch’s parent company). Original bluing thinner on the rear left of the frame, minor storage marks on all parts. Trigger in-the-white. One-piece walnut grip with fine
chequering. Lanyard ring.
Romanian captain Haralamb Dimancea from Bukarest designed a new type of revolver and offered it to the war ministry, which put the gun to trial. Kynoch and Gatling built a total of less than 1.000 units. Due to technical difficulties production was halted and the French M1892 revolver was adopted.
