DescriptionThe badge enamelled in red on both sides with an Ustascha emblem appliquéd on the front and the inscription "ZA ZASLUGE" (= For merit) on the back, above the date the state was founded "10. IV. 1942". Width approx. 57 mm, flexibly attached to the customised order sash (faded) by means of a suspension bar. The eight-rayed, hollow-wrought, convex silver breast star with appliquéd red device of the order and the counter plate corresponding to the device on the back. The fastening pin stamped "BK" plus a silver hallmark. Width approx. 85 mm.
The order was instituted on 19 December 1942 by the state leader Ante Pavelić as a visible symbol of recognition of services rendered to the people and the state in peacetime and in war. It could also be awarded to women (in reduced size) and foreign nationals.
