DescriptionTall, stiff body covered with black felt, lid (brittle), band and peak of black lacquered leather, the brass trimmed peak with embossed surface modelled after Napoleonic shakos. Fastened with pins an embossed brass emblem with crossed cannons, anchor and crowned eagle with the Savoy Cross at centre. Embossed brass clasp in front of blue cloth cockade, pompon of red dyed hair inserted at top. Leather lined chinscales (band replaced) on lion head rosettes. Black leather sweatband without cloth lining. Signs of wear and age. Very rare, early shako in exceptionally good condition.
