Body of grey cloth with cornflower blue pipings and hatband, the hatband trimmed on both sides with silver-plated bullion cord (rubbed), the obverse with the officer's cockade of silver-plated non-ferrous metal (rubbed). Leather peak (brittle, dents) and leather chinstrap. Grey linen lining with size "56", soft ochre leather sweatband. Rubbed in places, partially spotted, signs of usage and age. Well preserved for the age. Very rare.The cap was replaced by a round-topped peaked cap in 1894.
