DescriptionBlack lacquered shell of substitute material with silvered mounts, square front peak (after 1904). Applied to the screw-mounted guard star a smaller star with a gilt, part-enamelled medallion (small hairline cracks) featuring the Saxon coat of arms and the motto "PROVIDENTIAE MEMOR". Plate, star-stud retainers, spike neck with pearl frieze, detachable fluted spike. Convex, leather-lined chinscales on push-through rosettes and lacquered metal cockades of Saxon form. Fine blue-grey silk rep lining, ochre leather sweatband, red and green lined peak, respectively. Partially slightly damaged. Signs of age.
