DescriptionHand-hammered silver, stepped lower edge with four square feet, the lid with gold applied Reichsmarschall eagle and stylised floral frieze. In the base the Munich hallmarks for "935" silver and Max Olof's mark. Applied to the inside of the lid a (gold?) plaque with a raised image of a "Benz 'Victoria' 1891" with a corresponding inscription. The interior lined with bird's eye maple. Dimensions 23 x 20.5 x 4.5 cm, weight 1.345 g.
Very fine work. Probably a gift from the Daimler-Benz AG to Göring to celebrate the 50-year anniversary of the "Victoria", the first four-wheeled motorised vehicle of Benz & Co.
