DescriptionDark stained wood, carved, seat of brown leather. The curved backrest with the Cyrillic inscription (tr.) "Who travels quietly travels further". Overall height 99 cm. Width ca. 65.5 cm. Good, used condition.
The original oak chair "Bow, Axes, and Gloves" by V. Shutov was exhibited at the Pan-Russian Industrial Exhibition in St. Petersburg. Tsar Alexander III liked this unusual piece of furniture and purchased it, making it famous for its ingenuous design. A large number of such chairs were subsequently sold. Cf.
