Silver, partly enamelled, set with diamonds. Oak branches in gold, set with small emeralds and rubies. A stylised cipher FI. for Ferdinand I in the red enamelled medallion. The appliqué of the reverse medallion in the shape of a gold lion. Movable crown, covered with sheet gold on the back. Dimensions 95 x 53 mm. Weight 62.5 g. The white enamel slightly scratched. A small, superficial chip in the white enamel on the reverse medallion. In an old, but presumably not associated, leather-covered presentation case (probably Russian). Of extraordinary rarity, with original gemstones and of superb quality. The civilian order of merit was instituted by Prince Ferdinand I of Bulgaria on 2 August 1891 and only awarded with diamonds in very few cases.
