Description

Cal. 36 Blackpowder, SN. 66812, matching numbers. Almost bright bore with some frosting. 7½" octagon barrel, brass pin front sight. Six shots. Manufacturing date 1857. The barrel marked "- Address Saml Colt New-York City", the left side of the frame "Colts / Patent / U.S.". Cylinder with naval battle scene, offset to the front, with "Engaged 16 May 1843" almost non-existent, as is the letter "C" on "Colts Patent No 66812". Original blue 20% on the barrel, mottled, brownish patina, on the cylinder almost entirely rubbed off, loading lever, hammer and frame with remainders of colour case hardening. All iron surfaces with fine pitting. Brass back and front strap and trigger guard, with some silver plating left. The front left of the trigger marked "V", the rear "G". Varnished walnut one-piece grips with very few dings and nicks. Mechanically sound. Length 35 cm.
