DescriptionSide-by-side damascus barrels, each one in 16.5 mm calibre with smooth bores. On centre rail engraved signature "DREYSE SÖMMERDA". Laborious floral engraving on round actions with bottom side locking lever. Double trigger, trigger guard with dark horn on reverse side. Walnut half stock with chequered stock wrist and en suite engraved iron furniture. No ramrod, right lock system defective. Length 122 cm.
Franz Karl Rudolf von Dreyse, Sömmerda, 1822-94, received a patent on January 23rd, 1883 for a cardboard sabot with metal insert for his needle-fire rifle.
