Description
Sturdy wedged blade (cleaned, reworked) of forged Damascus steel with gilt dedication (tr.) "Dedicated to Gefreiter Pilch by the Lauenburg Jäger Battalion No. 9 – 15 August 1925" on the obverse, the reverse with signatures of the company chiefs and the battalion commander Major General Lehmann. Brass hilt with staghorn grip, s-shaped quillons terminating in hooves, and shell guard with applied silver guard star. Black leather scabbard, the fittings with remnants of gilding. By-knife missing. Length approx. 54 cm. Hand-painted, coloured possession document framed and under glass, with calligraphic writing for Gefreiter Pilch, who had won the hunting hanger on 15 August 1925 in Ratzeburg in a shooting competition.Large-size photograph album (incomplete): (tr.) "Memories of my time of service with the Lauenburg Jäg. Battl. No. 9 – reserve 3rd Comp. 1908-1910". Two regimental histories and St. Hubert’s symbol, framed and under (broken) glass. Each with traces of water and age.
