DescriptionThe black lacquered skull made of stiff, leather-like, replacement material (fibre) with round visors and silver-plated, nickel silver fittings. Screw-mounted guard emblem in the shape of a Baden griffin with an appliquéd, enamelled House Order of Fidelity, the base plate with four gold, star-shaped pins (dark patina), a bead and reel frieze and smooth, removable spike. Flat, leather-covered brass chinscales (remnants of gilding) on rosettes, complete with both metal cockades. Green silk rep lining (torn), the light brown leather sweatband embossed "Depaheg Patent" in gold, the visors with red and green underlay. Slightly damaged in places, signs of age.
