The exceptionally fine, full-length wrap in white linen with a train and long sleeves. The wide cuffs, the collar, the shoulders and the seams embellished with pale greenish-blue silk ribbons under gossamer linen gauze, the edges with fine lace borders on both sides. Mould stains on the inside of the dressing gown underneath the silk ribbons. Two pale blue silk ribbons at the points of the collar for the lacing at the throat.The dressing gown of the highest quality, the material admirably preserved.
This dressing gown was offered for sale in conjunction with the following underskirt of virtually identical design for a bustle dress in our 27th Auction in 1992. The underskirt has a linen label stitched into the waistband, stamped "Privatfond I.K.K. Majestät" and "No. 2439".

Provenance: Hermann Historica, 27th Auction in October 1992, part of lot no. 2865. Thereafter in a private German collection.
