Wartime version of gilt silver with the domed clasp characteristic of Wagner. The lower cross arm with mark of fineness "938" beside the inverted incised mark "W". Several chips on both sides. Width 53.7 mm, weight with suspension ring 26.5 g. Customised neck ribbon with stitched-on additional metal loop.Document dated 7 May 1918, one double sheet with blind-embossed seal and signature of Wilhelm II in indelible pencil. Portrait photograph of Böhme wearing the Pour le Mérite order. Erich Böhme (1863 – 1943) joined the Prussian Army in 1882, became second lieutenant in 1885, was major in the railway department of the Great General Staff as of 1913 and later railway commissioner of the 6th Army. In 1916, he became commander of the IR 14 at Verdun, was sent to Turkey as lieutenant colonel in 1917 and as Ottoman colonel became commander of the 24th division. At the end of the war, he was brigade commander in the army of General Field Marshal Mackensen in Romania. After that, he joined the border guards and later the Reichswehr (armed forces), became reserve major general in 1923 and in 1939 was granted the character of a lieutenant general.
