Description

An exquisite, large bronze hydria. The ovoid body with broad shoulders and a slightly concave neck, flaring to the reverted rim. The top of the rim flattened. The body from the foot to the neck largely preserved. Few cracks stabilized from the inside. Professional additions to the neck and shoulder area. At least 90% original substance. The three separately cast handles missing. The places where they were attached clearly visible. Height 45 cm. Diameter 31 cm.

Provenance: From a West German private collection, acquired on the art market before 1980.
