Description

Terracotta statuette of a horse, originally presumably with rider. Both front legs are raised to the jump. The bridles and horse adornments are still preserved on the detailed-modelled head, partly with traces of colors. The reins are largely missing. In the middle of the back and on the tail a small hole each for fastening the rider and the tail. Perfectly modelled animal. Impressive terracotta, mounted on stand. Two legs broken and expertly restored (accompanied by the report). Right front leg partially restored. Otherwise intact. Length 18 cm. Height 17.5 cm (with stand 19 cm).

Provenance: South German private collection, acquired 1975 in the Wettstein Gallery in Essen.
