Description

Fully round, fire-gilt bronze, partially chased and finely engraved, with dark patination in places. The sitting, meditating and devotional Buddha Shakyamuni on a large lotus pedestal. An apocryphal Ming mark on the back. Total height 67 cm. Given its age, in good condition overall. The gilding abraded in places. Slight traces of oxidation. Closed base.

Provenance: From a South German noble family.
