A strong French box with rich brass mounts, early 18th century

Description

Freestanding, strictly geometrical construction veneered in rosewood, partly worked in solid rosewood. On the front sides with splendid, solid brass mounts. Hinged lid which opens up a compartment. Brass eyelets that can be retracted into the side of the frame and pulled out to fix the box to any surface. The lid also opens another hinged drawer by means of a latch. Behind it two small drawers and secret drawers vertically integrated into the intermediate frame. Solid lock, hinges, bolts and handles are made of fine brass. Dimensions 19 x 32 x 19 cm. Good, partially restored overall condition. Veneer partly faded.

The pre-sale viewing will take place from Oct. 18 - 21 and Oct. 28 - 31, 2020 from 2 to 6 pm (CET).
