Description
Sturdy, double-edged blade of lenticular cross-section. In the upper quarter narrow fullers on both sides, ricasso with surrounding decorative lines. Characteristic basket hilt with thumb ring and finger guard. On the obverse ridged quillons with grooved decoration, one arm slightly bent. Grip with wrap of iron and brass wire, Turks’ heads of brass. Square, tapered pommel with fullered edges. Length 97 cm.Characteristic military sword from the arsenals of the Austrian military border during the time of the early Ottoman wars.
