Broad, slightly tapered single-edged blade of cuneiform cross-section. Straight, lightly engraved quillons with slightly tapered arms. Sturdy tang with one hole, almost horizontally oval disc pommel and applied rectangular riveted finial. Length 116.5 cm.Rare battle sword whose heavy blade was able to severely injure even well-protected opponents due to the force of the blow.
The hole in the tang added at a later date suggests that the sword comes from the collection of the Istanbul Arsenal, where many early looted weapons are stored.
