Description

Double-edged blade with broad fullers on both sides, the tip slightly damaged. On both sides remnants of fine brass inlays, the inscription between cross symbols only preserved in fragments. Straight quillons with arms slightly tapered off to the sides. Sturdy, slightly conical tang with round, tapered pommel. Length 99 cm.
Rare pommel shape (beehive form) from the High Middle Ages of which only a few items have been preserved worldwide. A similar sword is on display in the collection of the Tower of London.
