Description

Skull embossed in one piece with flat, roped comb. In the nape riveted iron plume socket. Two-piece pivoted visor with two lateral lock buttons. The single vision slit with distinct flange pulled upwards and a row of breathing holes in front. The lower visor plate with six breathing holes at the upper edge. Pivoted bevor with two lateral hook closures, around the neck roped edge to fit the helmet onto the collar. Very delicately crafted décor. Decorative lines with finely engraved tendrils on chiselled ground with small remnants of gilding. The visor decorated with figures chased in light relief. In the centre depiction of Hercules fighting against a lion, flanked by two female genii carrying a flambeau. Surfaces with characteristic fire damage. Surfaces immaculately preserved in parts, large areas of the surface with distinct traces of corrosion. Repairs at the tip of the bevor and on the right side of the neck. Height 27 cm.

The pre-sale viewing will take place from Oct. 18 - 21 and Oct. 28 - 31, 2020 from 2 to 6 pm (CET).
