A Venetian eared dagger

circa 1500
Sturdy, slightly hollow-triangular, armour-piercing blade. The short rectangular ricasso is stamped with double flower and double cross marks. The bronze quillons and pommel each have two large decorative disks on the sides and show clear remnants of fire-gilding. Leather-covered grip with tooled decoration. Length 43 cm.
Rare Venetian variant of the Moorish eared dagger.
