A Ottoman kilij set with corals

middle of the 19th century
Broad blade of fine wootz-Damascus with a reinforced, T-shaped back and a broadened, double-edged point. At the base of the blade chiselled leaf decoration on both sides with an inscription and hexagram on the obverse side. Gilded copper grip and quillons covered entirely with turquoise cabochons and corals cut in the shape of drops. Gilded copper scabbard with the obverse side decorated en suite and the reverse side displaying finely embossed floral designs on a chased background. Two suspension bars. Length 89.5 cm.
