A Spanish eared dagger

2nd half of the 16th century
Slender, double-edged blade of flattened hexagonal section and a short ricasso. Omega shaped smith marks on each side. Finely staged, baluster-shaped grip with the pommel in the shape of the typical "ears" which give this type its name. Length 40 cm.
Late Spanish variant of this dagger of Moorish origin.
