A Swiss dagger

South Germany or Switzerland, circa 1300
Heavy blade ridged on one side, the ridge flattened in the upper third bearing a finely etched decoration of a dragon. Lightly curved, square quillons, slender tang with curved grip cap retaining two intact rivets. Cleaned excavation discovery, lightly restored in places. Length 33 cm.
An early, well-preserved Swiss dagger with extremely rare blade decoration.
